Graphic Artist Emre Şengün Receives ‘5th International Ex-libris Competition Special Award’

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Distance Education Center Graphic Design Unit Responsible Lecturer. Assist. Emre Şengün achieved a great success by receiving the Special Award (Mehmet Rafet Atalık) at the 5th International Ex-libris Competition organized by Istanbul Ex-libris Association, Istinye University and Selçuk Ecza Deposu.

Artist Emre Şengün received his 13th award in many countries such as Belgium, China, Italy, Cyprus, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Poland and Russia. Şengün’s works were also exhibited in 35 catalogs.

The International Ex-libris Competition is open to artists and designers from all countries and is organized to bring together and evaluate aesthetic, original ex-libris works, to encourage artists, to promote and endear the art of ex-libris.

What is Ex-libris?
Ex-libris is a branch of art that introduces and glorifies the book owner. They are small-sized printed pictures that book lovers paste on the inside cover of their books with their names and pictures on different subjects. It is the business card or deed of the book. It introduces and glorifies the book owner and warns the borrower to return the book. Ex-libris is an important communication tool. Although it was born as a necessity graphic, they are original artistic works created with aesthetic concerns.
