The first event of the webinar series titled “Current Issues in Special Education,” organized by the Ondokuz Mayıs University Developmental Education Application and Research Center (OGEM), was held online on January 21, 2025, with the support of the Ondokuz Mayıs University Distance Education Center (UZEM) infrastructure.
In the first session of the event, Prof. Dr. Bülbin Sucuoğlu, retired faculty member of the Department of Early Childhood Education at Hacettepe University’s Department of Basic Education, met with participants with her presentation titled “Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in Early Childhood Education.” The presentation comprehensively addressed the basic principles of applied behavior analysis, early intervention approaches, and their impact on the educational processes of individuals with special needs.
In the second presentation held as part of the same event, Dr. Mustafa Doğuş, faculty member of the Department of Special Education at Ondokuz Mayıs University, gave a talk titled “The Role of Technology in Education for Individuals with Visual Impairments.” The presentation covered in detail the assistive technologies used in the education of individuals with visual impairments, accessibility applications, and the contributions of digital tools to the learning process.
