OMÜ OGEM Scientific Awareness Event: “Special Education in the Shadow of Pseudo-Science”

Ondokuz Mayıs University Developmental Education Application and Research Center (OGEM) hosted a meaningful event on December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event, held online with the support and technical cooperation of Ondokuz Mayıs University Distance Education Center (UZEM), was titled “Special Education in the Shadow of Pseudo-Science: How Can We Distinguish Accurate Information?”

The event opened up a discussion on how to distinguish between scientific knowledge and pseudoscience in the field of special education. Participants were informed about the importance of scientifically based practices, while the negative effects of information pollution, especially in sensitive areas of education, were emphasized.

Through this event, OGEM aimed to strengthen critical thinking skills within the academic community and among practitioners, to promote decision-making processes based on scientific accuracy in special education, and to raise social awareness.
